As I was sitting at my computer this morning there was a thump on the window. I rushed out to see this little fellow lying very still. I grabbed a shoe box and carefully put him inside. He started to come too, so I sat it on the table out on the patio.

After around fifteen minutes he flew away. I was so happy he was ok. The only other time I've seen one of these kingfishers is on the day we moved in. They are such beautiful little birds.

  1. beautiful birds indeed!
your windows are probably reflecting the trees & coursing a bit of confusion with new birds in the area, usually hanging something up in the window to break it up helps. glad he/she was okay
    thanx for sharing

  2. He is a lovely little fellow Wendy. We have lots of Kingfishers about at the moment, the ones most visible are the iridescent green type though I have seen the occasional blue kingfisher that looks like the one you helped.

  4. Thank goodness he/she was ok. What a beauty he is. We had lots of kingfishers where I lived in NZ - they would eat my goldfish in the big outdoor pond. Cheers Lyndie
